Ready-to-use substrate reserved for orchids, particularly suitable for epiphytic species with aerial roots. Its structure, rich in Mediterranean pine bark, remains airy, limits compaction, and helps avoid stagnant water around the roots.
Key Features
- Substrate specially formulated for orchids
- Particularly suitable for epiphytic orchids
- Airy structure based on pine bark
- Starter fertilizer providing essential nutrients and trace elements for approximately 8 weeks
- Helps limit water stagnation and the risk of root rot
- Size: 5 L
Instructions for use
- One to two days before potting or repotting, water the orchid thoroughly or immerse the root ball. The manufacturer also recommends light prior fertilization to make the roots more flexible.
- Before use, loosen the substrate to eliminate any compacted clumps.
- Gently remove the orchid from its pot and remove the old substrate from the roots.
- Carefully untangle the roots if necessary and remove any dead or rotten parts.
- Choose a slightly larger pot. Adapt the diameter to the volume of the roots and the species, without choosing an excessively large container.
- Place the orchid in the pot with a slight rotating motion, then gradually add the substrate until the new shoots lightly touch the fresh substrate.
- After repotting, place the plant out of direct sunlight.
- For epiphytic orchids, it is preferable to moisten using a suitable sprayer.
- The initial fertilizer lasts for about 8 weeks. Afterward, begin fertilization adapted to orchids.
- To preserve root aeration, renew the substrate at least every two years.
Precautions
- Use exclusively as a growing medium for compatible orchids.
- Do not pack the substrate tightly: aerial roots require a loose, ventilated structure.
- Avoid any water stagnation and only remove roots that are clearly dead or rotten.
- Protect the orchid from direct sunlight after repotting.
- Keep the bag closed and protected from sun, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Nutrient levels may change slightly during prolonged storage.
